Who We Are

Hal Curlett.png

Mr. Curlett has 55 years of operational, management, and ownership experience in the drilling industry. Mr. Curlett has been involved in numerous advanced technology research and developments within the hydrocarbon and geothermal energy fields. Such advanced technologies include developing novel high velocity jet and particle impact jet drilling systems as well as the disruptive Pulsed Energy Reservoir Construction  (PERC)

Mr. Curlett's operational background includes: operations in the high arctic region, drilling offshore wells on ice islands, offshore in the Canadian East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico, and all styles of horizontal wells. Mr. Curlett has 30+ patents concerning oil and gas and geothermal drilling equipment and processes. A personal career highlight was helping rescue baby Jessica McClure, an 18-month-old child who fell into an open wellbore in Midland, TX, in 1987 where his expertise in high velocity jet drilling was used.

Mr. Curlett has been involved in the geothermal development field for ~35 years.

Mr. Curlett was a named contributor to the seminal 2006 MIT/DOE Report – “The Future of Geothermal Energy: Impact of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) on the United States in the 21st Century”.

Mr. Curlett co-authored the 2005 SPE paper "
Leveraging a New Energy Source to Enhance Heavy-Oil and Oil-Sands Production" – C. J. Geddes, SPE, Ruinril Petroleum Ltd., and H. B. Curlett, SPE, Deep Heat Energy Corporation – November 2005. This work was foundational for the formation of a consortium of major IOC's to review the potential for geothermal energy to provide thermal power for the production of the oil sands in Alberta.

From his extensive background, Mr. Curlett has researched, investigated, innovated, patented and is currently developing a suite of integrated drilling, reservoir construction, and thermal production technologies into an advanced unified system that resolves the past techno-economic obstacles in the efforts to commercialize super hot rock geothermal.
